Wyc Grousbeck Wont Continue As Governor Of Celtics

by

Wyc Grousbeck will not remain as governor of the Boston Celtics following the completion of their $6.1 billion sale to Bill Chisholm. Grousbeck was initially expected to remain on governor through 2028, however he will remain as CEO and alternate governor. Grousbeck and Chisholm plan on running the Celtics in partnership as expected with Brad Stevens and Rich Gotham continuing to run basketball and business operations respectively.

The sale of the Celtics is expected to be complete within the next week as Chisholm becomes governor.

Bill Chisholm and his wife, Kimberly Ford Chisholm, are taking a hands-on approach within the Boston community as they begin their ownership.

The Grousbeck family purchased the Celtics in 2002 for $360 million with the franchise being put up for sale in July 2024 after they won their 18th NBA championship. The sale to Chisholm was announced in March 2025.
