Luka Doncic’s offseason transformation is turning heads and one NBA scout says that Doncic looks like a completely different player.
“Man, he looks incredible,” the scout told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “He’s quicker and more explosive. He’s getting by people more easily. I think he’s on a mission, man.”
The scout think that Doncic’s mission is to win the league MVP award this coming season.
“I think he’s going to win MVP and the scoring title next season,” the scout said. “He wants to get revenge on Dallas for basically fat-shaming him.”
The 26-year-old has reportedly dropped significant weight after adopting a gluten-free, low-sugar diet and intermittent fasting plan, according to Men’s Health.
The approach is designed to cut inflammation and improve recovery, and the results are certainly showing.
Doncic finished with 19 points and five assists in just 24 minutes against Germany, but the buzz was more about his improved speed and conditioning.
The timing couldn’t be better for the Lakers, who traded for him in February after Mavericks GM Nico Harrison’s reported concerns over his diet, weight, work ethic, and conditioning.
Now, the focus has shifted. Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million extension with Los Angeles on August 2 and is set on delivering a championship. He still managed 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in last year’s playoffs while being, by his own admission, out of shape.
If those were his numbers before the transformation, Lakers fans may be in for something special when the new season tips off.
