UFC 319 loses yet another fight due to unfortunate series of events

by

UFC 319 has lost a bout due to a weight mishap.

Bryan Battle missed the middleweight limit on the scale Friday by four pounds. The promotion initially indicated the bout would proceed with Battle (12-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) receiving a 30 percent fine. However shortly thereafter, it announced his fight vs. Nursulton Ruziboev had been canceled.

The miss marks two consecutive weight misses for Battle across two weight classes. Battle missed weight by four pounds at welterweight for his UFC 310 bout vs. Randy Brown in December. Battle went on to win that by split decision.

Saturday’s fight was scheduled for 15 pounds heavier, but Battle still missed by four pounds.

Neither Battle nor Ruziboev (36-9-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) have commented on the cancellation at the time of publication.

With the change, the UFC 319 lineup includes:

  • Champ Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev – for middleweight title
  • Lerone Murphy vs. Aaron Pico
  • Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates
  • Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page
  • Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott
  • Gerald Meerschaert vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk
  • Baysangur Susurkaev vs. Eric Nolan
  • Jessica Andrade vs. Loopy Godinez
  • Alexander Hernandez vs. Chase Hooper
  • Edson Barboza vs. Drakkar Klose
  • Dione Barbosa vs. Karine Silva
  • Alibi Idiris vs. Joseph Morales – “TUF 33” flyweight final
