Harbaugh is now unofficially on a 14-year-long show-cause from the NCAA. That’s by adding this ten-year show-cause with the one he’s currently serving with a four-year show-cause, as punishment for recruiting violations, starting just over a year ago in August of 2024. That said, Harbaugh, now back in the NFL as head coach of the LA Chargers (11-6 in 2024), was not expected to be back in college football, at least anytime soon and certainly not now, as he’s back at the professional level. — On3Sports

As for current Michigan HC Sherrone Moore, his penalties include a two-year show-cause order, and he will be suspended for three games, overall. There is a self-imposed two-game suspension, along with the first game of the 2026 season.
The Big Ten suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh for the final three games of the 2023 season, citing a violation of the conference’s sportsmanship policy, though no evidence linked Harbaugh directly to the scheme. For the Chargers, this news doesn’t affect them too much. In fact, it actually probably helps them keep their current head coach from ever returning to college football. With that penalty in CFB for Harbaugh, he will have no motivation to leave the NFL game again.

Harbaugh will be able to put this entire situation and storyline behind him now. That chapter of his coaching career will officially be closed once these repercussions from the NCAA become official quite soon.
