Azzi Fudd reveals when she and Paige Bueckers realized they had ‘chemistry’ originally appeared on The Sporting News
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are giving fans insight into the beginning of their relationship. The former UConn teammates appeared on Instagram’s Close Friends Only podcast this week, where they interviewed one another and began to chat about when they first met.

“When did you know that we were gonna click and, like, be this close?” Bueckers asked Fudd.
“Almost kind of immediately,” Fudd responded. “I feel like we really clicked when we met.”
Bueckers now plays for the Dallas Wings, and after forgoing the 2025 WNBA Draft, Fudd will be finishing up her final year at UConn. While they have “different stories” in how they met, Fudd says, at the USA Basketball camp in high school.
“On the court, we clicked,” Fudd said.
Fudd added, “I don’t remember talking to you at all off the court, but I remember the plane ride home to Minnesota talking to you and really liking you and then that’s when I thought, like, our personality off the court, our personalities clicked.”

The Wings rookie agreed, adding, “We had this on-court chemistry, and you don’t remember me off the court, which is like—,” she said before making a confused face which made she and Fudd laugh.
While it’s unclear when they began dating, the couple broke the internet when Fudd confirmed their romance by sharing a photo of her getting ready with a “Paige Bueckers girlfriend” phone case. In turn, Buekers confirmed their romance a few weeks later when she was asked by reporters with WAG Talk.
Elsewhere in the interview, Fudd shared what she admires most about her “favorite WNBA player.”
“You’re super giving and I like how you always make sure to put others first,” Fudd said. “I love how you take care of people around you and those who matter most to you. You’re super loyal.”
