Former UFC champ Deiveson Figueiredo will look to get back on track at UFC Fight Night 261, but he’ll have to do it against one of the bantamweight division’s rising contenders.
UFC officials announced Tuesday that Figueiredo (24-5-1 MMA, 13-5-1 UFC) will clash with Montel Jackson (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) on the Oct. 11 card at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro (ESPN+).
Former two-time flyweight champion Figueiredo, 37, is coming off consecutive losses to Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan. He went 3-0 in his move up to 135 pounds prior to the defeats.
Jackson, 33, meanwhile, is in the midst of a six-fight winning streak dating back to July 2020, with his most recent performance being a unanimous decision over Daniel Marcos at UFC on ESPN 67 in May, the same card which Figueiredo headlined against Sandhagen.
