Bryan Battle released from UFC roster after back-to-back weight misses

by

Bryan Battle’s lack of discipline on the scale has been met with consequences in the form of a UFC release.

UFC officials verified to MMA Junkie on Wednesday that “The Ultimate Fighter 29” winner Battle (12-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) has parted ways with the company after missing weight for the second consecutive fight at UFC 319. MMAFighting.com first reported the news.

After failing to hit the mark in the welterweight division against Randy Brown in December, Battle was forced up to middleweight. He could not make it work there, either, registering at 190 pounds for a matchup with Nursulton Ruziboev, which was ultimately canceled.

The 30-year-old also had another previous weigh-in infraction at UFC on ABC 4 in May 2013, missing by two pounds before scoring a 14-second knockout win.

Battle is unbeaten in his pat five octagon appearances dating back December 2022, but he could not get win as consistently on the scale, and it cost him a place on the roster.
