Rain washed away the action at the US Open. However, the mixed doubles event went according to plan under a closed roof at Arthur Ashe Stadium. In the first semi-final, Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud prevailed over Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper.

The Pole and the Norwegian wrapped up a tight 3-5, 5-3, 10-8 victory, wrapping up the final six points of the duel and remaining on the title course and $1 million.

Jessica and Jack fought well and built a set and a break advantage, which should have been enough in this reduced format. However, the Europeans bounced back and stole the set before prevailing in the match tie break.

Both teams provided three breaks from eight chances. However, Iga and Casper claimed two points more on the return, including a pivotal mini-break at 9-8 that carried them over the top.

Ruud and Swiatek were off to a shaky start. The Norwegian saved break points at the beginning of the duel before Swiatek played a forced error two games later to drop serve and fall 2-1 behind.

Pegula got broken in the next one, allowing the opponents to erase the deficit. Casper missed a volley at the net in the seventh game and experienced another break. This time, Pegula hit a service winner against Ruud on a set point in the next one, claiming the first part of the duel 5-3.

Draper fired a return winner on Swiatek's serve in the third game of the second set for a break and a massive advantage. Still, Jessica played a loose service game in the next one and dropped serve at love.

The American and the Briton denied three set points on serve in the sixth game and locked the result at 3-3. Pegula struggled on serve again in the eighth game and got broken at 15 after Casper's smash winner, with the European squad forcing a match tie break.

Pegula and Draper served well and grabbed two mini-breaks for a 6-3 advantage. Iga hit a double fault in the 12th point, sending her team 8-4 behind and closer to the exit door.

However, Jessica dropped two points on serve and brought the opponents to the positive side of the scoreboard. Ruud passed the American at the net in the 17th point, generating a match point for his squad.

Iga seized it with a volley winner at the net, rattling the sixth straight point for them and booking their spot in the title clash later today.
