Boris Wenger is the latest Argentine to secure his playing future in England. The 23-year-old front-rower from Villa Maria in Córdoba province has signed for the Harlequins for the 2025-2026 season. The London-based club will be Wenger’s first foreign professional club.

Wenger plays at loose head prop but has also played hooker in Super Rugby Americas. He played for Dogos in 2023-2024, converting from hooker to loose head prop with great success in 2024. He was a part of the championship winning team that year.
Los Dogos was Wenger’s second Super Rugby Americas team. He played for Colombia’s Cafeteros in the 2022 season. He was replacement hooker for the Colombian team in the Semi Finals against Peñarol in his rookie season. Wenger is noted for his ball-carrying ability. He is also reliable in the set-piece and is a busy defender.
Wenger is a product of Jockey Club in his hometown of Villa María. The city is the third largest in Córdoba province. Leading rugby players are identified and go through the High Performance system which was the case of Wenger who played for Los Pumitas before being recruited for Super Rugby Americas.

Wenger was one of eight uncapped SRA players selected by Felipe Contepomi to prepare to face the British & Irish Lions. He was joined by Luciano Asevedo, Leonel Oviedo, Agustín Moyano, Simón Benítez Cruz, Nicolás Roger, Faustino Sánchez Valarolo and Santiago Pernas from Super Rugby Americas.
Joaquín Moro was also included. He had made his test debut against Uruguay in July, 2024. Moro (Pampas) was a replacement against the British & Irish Lions as were Boris Wenger (Dogos), and Simón Benítez Cruz (Tarucas). Wenger and Benítez Cruz debuted for Los Pumas in the match though test caps were not awarded. Benítez Cruz recently signed for English Premiership side Newcastle Red Bulls.

Argentina fielded debutants against the British & Irish Lions. Bautista Bernasconi, Benjamín Grondona, and Benjamín Elizalde were also all on the roster as United Rugby Championship (URC) and English Premiership club players. Of them, Bernasconi received game time in the win in Dublin, Ireland.

Wenger will join two countrymen at the Harlequins: second-rower Guido Petti and winger Rodrigo Isgró. The former joins the Harlequins for the upcoming season from Bordeaux while the latter played his rookie campaign for the Harlequins in the 2024-2025 season.
Former Pumas to play for the Harlequins include loose head prop Santiago García Botta, second-rowers Pablo Bouza and Tomás Vallejos, scrum-half Martín Landajo, center Gonzalo Tiesi and winger Gonzalo Camacho.
