The Hardys Hint at Possible Retirement If They Lose to Dudleys at Bound For Glory

TNA Slammiversary 2025 lit up the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, with a wild night of action, but the moment fans will be talking about for months came when Matt and Jeff Hardy recaptured the TNA World Tag Team Titles.

After surviving a brutal Ladder War against the Nemeths, The Rascalz, and First Class, the Hardys stood tall before being greeted by Bubba Ray Dudley, who set the stage for one more showdown at Bound For Glory on October 12.

Fans in the arena erupted with chants of “where is D-Von,” and Bubba even acknowledged the moment, telling the crowd it was a great question. Regardless of whether D-Von appears, the iconic Team 3D vs. Hardys rivalry will get one last chapter this fall.

During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Matt and Jeff Hardy spoke about how they prepare for matches depending on the stipulation. Matt used the opportunity to tease what could be in store for Bound For Glory.

“Yeah, I I think if it’s going to be, you know, a Full Metal Mayhem or a TLC match, we’re definitely going to prepare differently. You know, if it is a regular match, we’re going to prepare differently just depending on what style of match it is. In in all honesty, from everything I’ve heard and throwing this out there, I I think the Hardys vers Dudley’s may end up being a tables match almost in the celebration of a quarter of a century ago having the first ever tag team tables match at Madison Square Garden at Royal Rumble 2000.”

The conversation then turned toward the possibility of the Hardys coming up short at Bound For Glory, with the hosts pointing out their previous comments about not wanting to become shells of themselves. Matt didn’t shy away from the question.

“I mean, hypothetically, if that did happen, if we went to B for Glory and the Dudley’s won the TNA World Tag Team titles, I think we would have to take a long hard look in the mirror and just uh and kind of judge where we’re at and like, you know, is it time to ride off into the sunset and and do the TNA Hall of Fame, time to do the WWE Hall of Fame? You know, we’ll see. Right now, we’re feeling really good and we’re going to try and rock and roll like it’s 2001.”

Jeff Hardy followed up by making it clear where his mindset would be.

“I’ll be completely focused on our rematch for sure. I’d be ready.”

The hosts jokingly poked fun at Jeff with a line of their own: “There you go. Jeff’s not ready. Jeff’s not ready.”

The Hardys are back on top in TNA, but with Bound For Glory looming and talk of possible retirement floating around, the stakes have never been higher.
