WEST LAFAYETTE — The appearance of Purdue freshman guard Keona Douwstra will have to wait a year.
Douwstra will stay in Netherlands for one more season. Purdue athletics officials couldn’t comment why.

Douwstra has averaged 10.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.1 steals per game during two seasons in the Dutch National League.
While Douwstra will have to wait an extra year before making her way stateside, she reaffirmed her commitment to Purdue when speaking to the Journal & Courier.

“I’m still 100% committed to Purdue because I still feel at home there and loved the people,” Douwstra said. “I also still think it’s the best decision for my career to evolve and get at the highest level possible personally and basketball-wise.”

Douwstra recently competed for Netherlands for the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket in Portugal and averaged 10.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.7 APG and shot 42.9% FG, including 40% from 3-point range.
