India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
A few days back, a 15-man squad of India was announced by the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar after a meeting in Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading Team India, while a returning Shubman Gill has been named as his deputy.
Almost every expected name made the cut in the squad, but some unfortunate players like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna faced snubs.
The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prasidh Krishna have been kept in standbys alongside Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel, but Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj were totally ignored.

Virender Sehwag further said that feeling the buzz in the dressing room is one of his fondest memories of the Asia Cup.
“One of my fondest memories of the Asia Cup is walking into the dressing room on match days and feeling the buzz even before stepping onto the field. You could hear the chants outside, feel the energy in every corner. I remember telling my teammates – today we won’t just play a match, we’ll give the fans a day they’ll never forget.
“That electrifying energy and that unity, is exactly what this campaign by Sony Sports Network is about. It captures how, in those moments, every cheer, every clap, and every heartbeat across the country beats for India,” said Sehwag.
