In a busy few days, the Harlequins have signed two props from Argentina. Pedro Delgado officially joins the club as of Friday after Boris Wenger’s arrival was announced on Thursday. Wenger is a loose head prop while Delgado is a tight head prop. The pairing played together for Los Dogos in Super Rugby Americas. Both will arrive at the Harlequins after the 2025 Rugby Championship.

Pedro Delgado makes the move from Argentina to England at the age of 27 with 5 test caps to his name. The tight head prop comes from Old Lions Rugby Club in the northern Argentine city Santiago del Estero. He started playing for Old Lions in 2015. After eight years he was drafted to Los Dogos in Super Rugby Americas in 2023.
Delgado and Wenger were both involved in the championship winning Super Rugby Americas campaign with Los Dogos in 2024. Wenger started at loose head prop while Delgado was the replacement tight head prop. His performances had him placed on standby by Felipe Contepomi for a potential call-up to Los Pumas.

Delgado’s call-up came during the 2024 Rugby Championship. Argentina lost Eduardo Bello to injury and opted to call-up Delgado rather than veteran Francisco Gómez Kodela or rookie Francisco Coria Marchetti. This saw Delgado named as a replacement, covering Joel Sclavi in the home match against South Africa.
Delgado’s test debut was a dream come true. He had the opportunity of pulling-on his country’s jersey against the World Champions in his home town of Santiago del Estero. The test match was a thriller with Argentina pulling off an upset win against the Springboks.
Delgado’s second cap was also against South Africa. It was in the final round of the 2024 Rugby Championship. He was subsequently selected for the November tour of Europe but had to wait until July 2025 to earn his 3rd cap.
His return to Los Pumas was for Argentina at home against England. Delgado earned his first test start in La Plata. Contepomi rotated for the remaining home matches before deciding to start Delgado again against New Zealand in the Rugby Championship.
He started Argentina’s opening match of the tournament in Córdoba ahead of Joel Sclavi and retained the spot for the second round match in Buenos Aires. Delgado completed his move from Argentina to the Harlequins during the week in between the two Pumas vs All Blacks test matches.

Delgado is one of four Pumas on the Harlequins roster for the 2025-2026 English Premiership season. He joins loose head Boris Wenger, second-rower Guido Petti and winger Rodrigo Isgró. Only Isgró was at the club last season. Petti arrives from Bordeaux, after winning the Champions Cup, while Delgado and Wenger both arrive from Argentina.
Former Pumas to play for the Harlequins include loose head prop Santiago García Botta, second-rowers Pablo Bouza and Tomás Vallejos, scrum-half Martín Landajo, center Gonzalo Tiesi and winger Gonzalo Camacho.
