The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are among the teams with trade interest in Trey Murphy III. The Warriors have made calls to the Pelicans on Murphy as recently as this summer.
However, the Pelicans have resisted inquiries on Murphy, who will make $25 million this season. Murphy and the Pelicans agreed to a four-year, $112 million extension last October. Murphy was the 17th pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Virginia. The Warriors strongly considered Murphy with the No. 14 pick, but they instead selected Moses Moody.
Murphy is a career 38 percent shooter on three-pointers and is signed until the 2029 offseason. Murphy averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 53 games last season for the Pelicans.
