Cameron Smith, once one of the important links of the PGA Tour, decided to accept the financial offer of LIV Golf several years ago and join with this project.
Since the moment he became part of this story, it seems that the Australian is less and less present in the public eye and further away from the cameras.
However, those who support LIV Golf are still enjoying the games of the Australian golfer who will compete in the Team Championship in Michigan this week.
Cameron Smith's team has serious intentions to celebrate this time just like in 2024, but they are aware that there are quality teams standing in front of them, eager to spoil their plans.
Cameron Smith spoke about interesting topics in a media interview, and his statements about Bryson de Chambeau attracted special attention.
The Australian admits that playing next to him is scary.
His shot and his dominance sometimes scare other opponents.
Most consider De Chambeau to be the main figure of LIV Golf, which he shows at the Majors as well.
Smith also pointed out that sometimes it is demoralizing to play next to the 31-year-old, given that his long shots are truly incredible.
“He can get the driver going as well. For me I would say I’m an average length guy. I don’t hit the ball too short or too far.
He can just overpower golf courses like nobody else can. It can be quite intimidating but I don’t think there’s a golf course he can play that necessarily I can’t play, if that makes sense.
It’s pretty crazy, sometimes he is 70, 80, 90 yards ahead of you and it’s pretty demoralising to be honest!”- he said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.
Individual standings
Cameron Smith has not been great this season, finishing 18th in the individual standings. On the other hand, Dechambeau finished third.
The most dominant figures in this controversial league were Joaquin Niemann and John Rahm, who ultimately won the individual title.
However, Smith is also focusing on the team aspect of the game, hoping that his team can celebrate.
