Following Friday night’s 95-90 loss to the league-leading Minnesota Lynx (29-7), which saw the Indiana Fever (19-17) dress only nine players due to injuries affecting their roster makeup, the team could be in jeopardy of losing yet another guard after Odyssey Sims did not return to the floor during the fourth quarter.
According to IndyStar’s Chloe Peterson, Sims limped off the floor following a shot attempt in the fourth quarter, where she apparently tweaked something on the follow-through. The veteran point guard, who recently signed a second seven-day hardship contract with the team on Sunday, headed straight to the locker room with trainers before returning to the bench shortly after.

After the game, Peterson reported that head coach Stephanie White informed the media that the team does not have an update on Sims’ injury status, before stating the medical team will be evaluating the guard to determine the extent of the newest setback as soon as Saturday.
No matter the extent of the injury, a possible absence for Sims would be another catastrophic loss for a Fever squad that has been hit hard with season-ending injuries to guards Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald, all occurring in the last 15 days.
That doesn’t even include Caitlin Clark’s increasingly extensive recovery from a right groin injury and the recent left knee ailments affecting forward Chloe Bibby, whose absence forced the team to play with only nine available players instead of 10 as the franchise met the league’s CBA requirements for Cunningham’s hardship waiver eligibility.

With only one day between the Fever’s next game, also against the Minnesota Lynx, at Target Center on Sunday in Minneapolis, Indiana’s chief operating officer and general manager, Amber Cox, will have her hands full trying to assemble the best roster possible with even more injury hurdles affecting the team.
Sunday’s game against the Lynx will begin at 2 p.m. CT and be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
