by

This week in Alabama kicked off the start of the 2025 high school football season. For Auburn fans, a lot of attention will be paid to the commitments for the 2026 class. They want to see those players continue to play at a high level before they become Auburn Tigers in 2026. For one of Auburn’s 2026 commits, it was a big opening week.

2026 four-star edge rusher Jaquez Wilkes had a big night in Wadley’s 46-0 victory over B.B. Comer on Friday night. Per Caleb Jones of Auburn Sports at Rivals, Wilkes scored two touchdowns and had a big third down stop in the game. He scored a 36-yard touchdown early in the first quarter to give Wadley a 8-0 lead. He would later score another touchdown of 23 yards to give them a 20-0 lead. Wilkes had five carries on Friday night for 96 yards and picked up three tackles. He did not play in the second half after Wadley built a 34-0 lead.

The win was the 14th straight for Wadley after 13-0 season last year that resulted in winning the AHSAA 1A State Championship. Wilkes was a big part of that success and will be this season. In 2024, Wilkes rushed for 2,582 yards and 37 touchdowns. He is not coming to Auburn to play offense though.

247Sports has Wilkes as the No. 10 player at edge and No. 7 in Alabama. Last season, he had 117 tackles and 18 tackles for loss. He is also on the Alabama Mr. Football watch list this season. His next game for Wadley will be on Aug. 29 when they travel to play against Horseshoe Bend.
