For the second straight week, Tyler Reddick’s NASCAR playoff berth hopes are jeopardized by a crash.

Reddick and Todd Gilliland came together down the front stretch on Lap 18 and made contact in the NASCAR Daytona race on Aug. 23, the final race of the regular season.

Both cars went spinning out of control; Reddick ended up crashing the No. 45 Toyota nose-first into the SAFER barrier, causing extensive damage in the Coke Zero Sugar 400.

After the wreck, Reddick drove his car backward in pit lane in an effort to avoid further damage.

In the NASCAR Richmond race on Aug. 16, Reddick lost 28 playoff points after his car was hit in the rear end by Ty Gibbs at the end of Stage 2.

Reddick, who drives for 23XI Racing, came into the race in 15th place in the Cup standings. He was one place ahead of Alex Bowman, who crashed 28 laps in. The top 16 drivers get into the playoffs.

The wreck brought out the second yellow flag in the race.

Reddick led 41 laps last week before crashing.
