The start of the 2025 college football season is just around the corner. With it, that means the season of preseason watch lists and accolades is upon us. While some of these recognitions are standard—preseason All-Americans, award watch lists, etc.—others are more unique.
Falling into the latter category, last month, Stewart Mandel and Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic released their annual college football “all-geezer team”. The team consists of players who have seemingly been playing college football forever—or at least it feels that way. While no one on the current Trojans roster made the team, two former USC defensive ends did: Solomon Tuliaupupu and Romello Height.

Here is what they had to say about Tuliaupupu (currently with FCS program Montana):
“We normally wouldn’t include an FCS player,” Mandel and Khan wrote. “But this is an extreme case.
“Tuliaupupu spent the past seven seasons at USC, where he became the new Cam McCormick. He missed his first two seasons because of foot surgery, then the next two seasons because of a knee injury. He finally saw the field in 2022, then missed the entire next season. All told, he played in 21 games in seven years and theoretically has two more medical redshirts at his disposal.”
As for Height (currently at Texas Tech):

“Most people have to play an EA Sports video game to sample as many college stadiums as Height,” Mandel and Khan wrote. “He has moved from the SEC (Auburn in 2020-21) to the Pac-12 (USC in 2022-23) and the ACC (Georgia Tech in 2023-24), then to the Big 12 (Texas Tech in 2024-25).
“He finally had his breakout as a fifth-year guy in 2024, and at the perfect time, as Texas Tech became an ATM for offensive and defensive linemen.”
Both Tuiaupupu and Height spent time at USC during their seemingly endless college football careers. While neither will end their time in college with the Trojans, USC fans can still appreciate their longevity and wish them success (and health) this fall.
