About UVT Fishing
Anthony, the founder of UVT Fishing, was looking through his grandfather Vin’s belongings when he discovered his custom-made fishing tackle. Vin was a dedicated angler, but making sure his three children had all the food, clothes, and sporting equipment they needed was his priority. So, he worked overtime for his kids, and with few resources left over, made his fishing gear himself. Vin would take this homemade gear aboard the headboats of New York, where he fished with what he called, “my family on the water.”
Seeing the custom tackle, and remembering his time with Vin, Anthony was inspired to begin his own tackle company in honor of his grandfather, creating UVT Fishing, for “Uncle Vin’s Tackle.”
The guiding principles behind UVT come directly from Vin: work hard, take care of your customers, and respect your family on the water. Over the last four years, these have helped grow this Connecticut-based company into one of the country’s hottest tuna lure manufacturers, producing gear that’s used and supported by some of the very best captains in the game: UVT’s “La Familia.”
The captains who make up La Familia share their input, expertise and experiences with UVT and the greater tuna fishing community to create tackle specifically for the Northeast tuna fishery. You can see La Familia’s influence throughout UVT Fishing’s products, such as Captain Cory’s Tuna Jig, a fast-sinking sand eel imitation designed with input from Captain Cory Crochetiere, and the Shore Catch colorways, designed by NJ Captain Gene Quigley.
With these products carrying his grandfather’s name, Anthony cuts no corners in creating durable, hardworking fishing gear worthy of Vin’s legacy. He and the captains spend tons of time and resources on R&D, making sure the product is right before it gets to the customer.
