The Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash between India and Pakistan in Dubai was not just a cricket match; it turned into a battlefield of skill, aggression, and intense on-field drama. Abhishek Sharma grabbed all the spotlight not only for his explosive batting but also for his heated exchanges with Pakistani bowlers on Sunday, September 21.

Abhishek Sharma was involved in multiple heated exchanges with Pakistan fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf during India’s successful chase in Dubai. The tension started when Abhishek smashed a six off Shaheen, sparking a verbal confrontation between the two.

Cameras caught the Indian opener mouthing something aggressively at Shaheen, although it was unclear what the Pakistani pacer had said before. After hitting Shaheen for back-to-back boundaries in the third over, Gill was heard saying by television cameras, “Jaa, ball lekar aa (go fetch the ball).”

The heat escalated when Shubman Gill hit Haris Rauf for a boundary, prompting a loud argument between Abhishek and Haris. The drama intensified in the penultimate over of the powerplay, with both Gill and Abhishek targeting Haris after smashing another boundary by the latter, forcing the umpire to intervene and cool down the heated atmosphere.

The pacer, visibly rattled, responded with stares and verbal spats, but the two Indian openers fired back in equal measure and didn’t back down. It was all started by Sahibzada Farhan. The Pakistani opener celebrated his fifty with a “gun” gesture, adding to the already charged atmosphere during the Super Four clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

Abhishek Sharma opens up about Pakistani bowlers’ personal attacks

After helping the Men in Blue beat the Men in Green by six wickets in Dubai, Abhishek admitted that he did not like the “personal attacks” from the Pakistani pacers, which motivated them to perform and win the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match for India on Sunday.

He revealed that the Pakistani pacers were making constant personal attacks, so he and Shubman Gill decided to respond through aggressive batting against unfair on-field behavior.

Abhishek Sharma said on Sony Sports Network after the match, “Today, I had to play in this way because of the way they were making personal attacks without any reason. I didn’t like it at all. They were targeting us on every single ball, so it was important to respond in that way.

And I thought that this was the only answer that I could give with my bat. I feel this is not the way to play cricket. Shubman and I were on the same page, and we decided to answer them by winning the match.”
