AD Dr. Jason Cable Launches “Bama State Student-Athlete NIL Fund – The Best is Yet To Come

by

Dear Hornet Nation, Alumni, Fans, and Supporters,

As the landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, one of the most transformative developments is the recent NCAA v. House case settlement. This decision paves the way for institutions to provide direct financial benefits to student-athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives, an important shift from the previous model that limited NIL opportunities to third-party arrangements.

In response to this new era and in alignment with our commitment to enhance the student-athlete experience, Alabama State University is proud to announce the launch of the Hornet Student-Athlete NIL Fund — a forward-thinking initiative designed to empower our alums, fans, and supporters to directly impact our student-athletes through NIL opportunities.

The fund will serve as a vehicle for donors and fans of BAMA STATE Athletics to contribute directly to revenue-sharing models and NIL support structures. This fund strategically positions ASU Athletics to recruit and retain elite student-athletes who excel in competition and embrace the academic rigor and character standards we uphold at Alabama State University.

The Hornet Student-Athlete NIL Fund is more than just a financial resource; it’s a long-term investment in the future of our athletics programs and the young men and women who represent us with pride.

Our mission at ASU remains focused on elevating the student-athlete experience academically, athletically, and in personal leadership development. The Hornet Student-Athlete NIL Fund reflects that mission. It provides meaningful opportunities to student-athletes, ensuring we remain competitive nationally while cultivating excellence in Montgomery.

This new fund offers another avenue for giving and impact, but does not replace the Hornet Club, which remains essential in supporting the department’s operating budget. As we look ahead to the 2025–26 academic year and beyond, the growth of the Hornet Student-Athlete NIL Fund will be critical in achieving our goals in the rapidly evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.

We invite all members of Hornet Nation to join us in this exciting journey. Whether through contributions to the Hornet Student-Athlete NIL Fund or continued support of the Hornet Club Annual Fund, your involvement makes a lasting difference.

To learn more or contribute, please visit the Hornet Club NIL Fund Website for additional information.

Thank you for your continued passion and support for Alabama State University Athletics.

Go Hornets!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jason Cable

Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics
