Adam Bradford revisits Week 9 Big Ten football game predictions

by

Last week, I attempted to pick every Big Ten game in Week 9 of the college football season. After an 8-1 record the week prior, it was going to be tough to try and replicate my last performance, but I certainly gave it my best effort.

So how did my picks fare? Let’s take a look and see:

Indiana over UCLA

“UCLA’s Linsanity run comes to a crashing halt on the road in Bloomington.”

Crashing halt would be an understatement to describe what the Hoosiers did to the school from Westwood.

Record: 1-0

Nebraska over Northwestern

“Nebraska does not get caught looking ahead to its matchup with USC next week.”

Nebraska actually tried their hardest to lose this game, but fortunately for them, Northwestern tried even harder.

Record: 2-0

Rutgers over Purdue

“As much as both of these teams deserve to lose this game, according to the rules, one of them has to win it.”

One of them did win the game, and it was indeed Rutgers.

Record: 3-0

Illinois over Washington

“This might be the best game of the weekend that seemingly no one is talking about. If Illinois can escape Seattle with a win, they will be in great position to finish 10-2, with their only two losses coming to the current No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country.”

Shame on me for thinking that Illinois was good because they beat USC at home—something that essentially any team with a pulse can do.

Record: 3-1

Iowa over Minnesota

“The over/under on this game is currently 39.5, and even that might be too high.”

The under would have hit handily if not for Iowa’s two non-offensive touchdowns that turned this game into a rout.

Record: 4-1

Oregon over Wisconsin

“Oregon is currently favored by 31.5 points, and even that might be too low.”

Oregon sleepwalked its way to an uninspiring 21-7 win over the horrific Badgers.

Record: 5-1

Michigan over Michigan State

“Let’s just hope that we do not get another jumbotron incident in this rivalry game.”

There were no incidents in this game—just a lot of bad football played by the Spartans.

Overall Record: 6-1

Overall Performance

It was another very good week for me, with only one loss. While last week’s lone miss can be blamed on Nebraska laying an egg, however, I clearly underestimated Washington and overestimated Illinois. I will be kicking myself for that one.

Onto Week 10!
