Adhel Tac injury update, reserve out for South Carolina women’s basketball vs Coppin State

South Carolina women’s basketball reserve forward Adhel Tac won’t play against Coppin State as “recovers from a nasal injury,” according to the program.

South Carolina posted a photo of Tac on social media on Jan. 18, an hour before tipoff for the No. 2 Gamecocks (18-1) with the caption “Always smiling, but Adhel is not playing today as she recovers from a nasal injury.”

Tac wore a mask around her eyes during the game against Texas on Jan. 15, and coach Dawn Staley didn’t address it after the game.

Tac, a 6-foot-5 sophomore forward/center, had one point, one block and three rebounds against Texas.

She’s averaging 3.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 11.8 minutes per game off the bench this season.

Maryam Dauda and Alicia Tournebize are Staley’s remaining options to give starters Madina Okot and Joyce Edwards some help in the paint. Tournebize is South Carolina’s new player from France who just made her debut last game against the Longhorns.

Tournebize played five minutes total, scoring zero points with no shots and no rebounds.

Dauda is averaging 2.9 points.
