Adolis García makes crazy sliding, juggling catch

by

It’s tough to find a higher degree of difficulty on a defensive play than what Rangers right fielder achieved with a juggling, tumbling catch to rob Philadelphia’s Nick Castellanos on Sunday afternoon.

With one out in the top of the second and the Rangers leading, 2-0, Castellanos hit a pop fly into shallow right field off a 1-2 pitch from Texas starter Patrick Corbin. A hard-charging García covered 103 feet in 5.4 seconds and slid to try to make the catch, but had the ball glance off his glove. However, he stayed with the play and snagged it barehanded behind him as he fell to the ground.

As García held the ball aloft to confirm he made the catch, the Rangers’ dugout celebrated and Castellanos stared out into right field, both in seeming disbelief that he’d pulled it off. One thing’s for sure: We’ll be seeing this catch on highlight reels for some time to come.
