AEW Collision Live Coverage – 8/23

On the eve of Forbidden Door, Isla Dawn will make her AEW debut in her home country. She’ll be taking on Megan Bayne. Two members of Triangle of Madness, Julia Hart and Skye Blue continue their feud with Queen Aminata and Willow Nightingale.

Coming off of winning NJPW’s prestigious G1 CLIMAX tournament, Konosuke Takeshita returns to AEW. He will take on NJPW. Conglomeration member Tomohiro ISHII. More members of the Don Callis Family will be in action when Josh Alexander, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, and Hechicero against Hiromu Takahashi and SkyFlight (Scorpio Sky & Top Flight).

During “Dynamite”, the Young Bucks attacked Will Ospreay. Paragon stopped them from going further and both tag teams will go head-to-head tonight. In more tag team action,

GOA will take on a returning GYV. Big Bill will also be in action. Max Caster is bringing his open challenge to the U.K.

Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGuinness, and Ian Riccaboni are on commentary. Don Callis came out to address the crowd in Spanish to introduce Hechicero. Archer, Alexander, and Romero join Hechicero.

SkyFlight, accompanied by Christopher Daniels, comes to the ring next. Hiromu follows. Hiromu and Alexander start us off. Alexander forearms him and Hiromu with a headscissor takedown. Romero got in the ring, Hiromu kicked him in the gut and threw him into the turnbuckle. Hirmou ran between both men in the corners several times before dropkicked Romero into the corner. Hiromu took Alexander down too. Sky tagged in as did Hechicero. From the apron, Sky headbutted him through the ropes and followed with a headscissors takedown before tagging in Dante. Dante send Hechicero into his corner before Darius tagged in so they could double team him. Alexander charged at Darius, Dante leapfrogged them. Darius DDT’d Alexander.

Archer blocked Darius and sent him to the mat. Dante uses his brother’s back to knock Archer off the apron. Darius attempted a tope on Archer, but Archer caught him and slammed him onto the apron. Hechicero with a senton in the center of the ring. Archer tagged in and kicked Darius in the gut and sent him into the corner. Darius hit Romero and Alexander with back elbows to knock them off the apron.

Dante tagged in and kicked Archer and followed with forearms. Alexander kneed Dante in the back through the ropes and Dante back elbowed him. Archer grabbed him by the neck to throw him over his shoulder and then cleaned house. Archer with a lariat to Dante. Romero tagged in and kicked Dante in the gut and ran the ropes before hitting him with a sliding lariat. Hechicero tagged in and went on the offense. He worked Dante’s ankle and knee. Alexander tagged in and sent Dante into the corner. Dante went up top, but Alexander picked him up on his shoulders to do a gut buster.

After the break, Archer had Dante by the neck and Dante reversed into a hurricanrana. Romero and Sky tagged in. Sky takes Romero down and powerbombed him. Alexander came in and Sky connected with a drop toe hold and stomped his back. He followed with a cutter on Romero and put him in a dragon sleeper. Everybody else is fighting in and out of the ring. Hechicero put Sky in a stretch. Archer took out everyone on the outside. Hechicero locked in a stretch on the other side before doing a sidewalk slam. Hechicero and Alexander double team Sky. Romero got on Archer’s shoulders so Archer could toss him on Sky. Romero followed with a cutter.

Hiromu fought out of the C4 and hit a thrust kick. Hechicero took Hirmou down with a drop toehold and elbowed his arm. Hiromu chopped him, but Hechicero sent him into the corner before connecting with a running knee. Top Flight double team Hechicero. Archer took them out with double lariats. He tried for a double chokeslam, but they got out and kicked him in the gut simultaneously. They got Archer in a vertical suplex. Romero shoved Top Flight and made Darius knock Dante out of the ring. He sent Darius out on the other side while Sky got in. Sky dropkicked Romero and Hiromu tagged in and took down Romero. He had Romero on his shoulders, but Romero got down and raked his eyes. Romero set up for a tornado DDT, but Sky grabbed Romero’s upper body and delivered a slam. SkyFlight did stereo tope suicidas on Hechicero, Archer, and Alexander. Hirmou delivered a Death Valley Driver to Hiromu for the win.

Winner: SkyFlight and Hiromu Takahashi

Kyle Fletcher and Callis come to the ramp. Hiromu signals he’s going to take his TNT Championship.

Dawn comes out first. Bayne follows, accompanied by Penelope Ford.

Bayne with a gut wrench on Dawn, followed by a shoulder tackle. She ran her into the corner and chopped her. She sends her into the next corner and chopped her. Dawn reversed Bayne into the corner and wailed on her. Bayne gets out of the corner, but Dawn stays on the offense. Bayne put her in a side headlock. Bayne started to suplex Dawn, but she got out of it. Bayne with a Samoan Drop and multiple scoop slams. Dawn fights back until Bayne pushes her down. Bayne takes her down with a lariat. Bayne followed with a running boot in the corner and a slam. Dawn punched her in the back from the knees.

Bayne grabbed her by the hair and hit her in the back. Dawn blocked a powerbomb twice before ducking a pumpkick. She followed with multiple strikes. Bayne went for a splash, but Dawn moved. Dawn kicked her in the chest and a knee lift before kneeing her in the face after bouncing off the ropes. She covered her, but Bayne got her shoulder up. Dawn charged at Bayne, but Bayne took her down with a lariat. Bayne followed with a Liger Bomb for the win.

As Bayne and Ford walked up the ramp, Nightingale made her way to the ring as Riccaboni rapped. Aminata follows. Blue and Hart follow.

Willow and Skye start us off. Skye hit her from behind. Willow with a high angle takedown. She followed with a shoulder tackle and gave one to Julia when she climbed in the ring. Willow forearms Julia in the corner repeatedly. She pulled her to the center of the ring to lariat her. Aminata tagged in and chopped Julia in the corner. Aminata suplexed Julia. She charged the corner, but Julia moved and splashed her. Julia with a full arm drag twist and a forearm shot before walking the ropes. Julia took Aminata down after she jumped off the rope. Julia hit the ropes for a running lariat, but Aminata ducked. Aminata picks her up and spins her around several times before planting Julia on the butt. Aminata follows with Chocolate Kisses until Skye dropkicked her in the head. While the ref is distracted, Skye and Julia double team Aminata. Julia covered her for a one count.

After the break, Willow pounced Skye out of the ring. Julia hit her in the back, but Willow hit a spinebuster and rolled her up for two. Willow grabbed her by the hair and put her on her shoulders, but Julia got down. She and Skye deliver an assisted DDT. Willow grabbed Skye and Julia’s hands to slam them into each other before taking them down with double lariats before tagging in Aminata. Aminata suplexed her twice. Skye fought out a spinning neck breaker before hitting Aminata. Skye with a knee lift, but Aminata took her down with chops. Aminata did an air raid crash and covered her for two. Aminata went for a double stomp, but Skye rolled out the way. Aminata connected with a swinging neckbreaker. Julia with a leg trip on Aminata. Willow chopped Julia and Skye superkicked Willow. She hit her a second time and all four are in the ring. Julia superkicked Aminata. Willow and Aminata hit them with lariats. All four women are down.

They battle with forearms. Julia and Skye kicked Willow and Aminata. Willow and Aminata put them in standing submission holds before running their opponents into each other. Willow sends Julia to the outside. Julia grabbed Willow’s leg and pulled her down on the apron. Skye had Aminata in a hold. Julia came up behind her, but Aminata kicked her from behind before taking Skye down. Aminata headbutted Skye. She followed with Off With Her Head and rolled her up for the win.

Winner: Queen Aminata and Willow Nightingale

After the match, Thekla attacked Aminata. Willow fought her. Ford takes out Willow and Bayne joins them. Harley Cameron ran to the ring and took out Ford on the ramp. Cameron attacks Bayne in the corner. Ford pulls Cameron off and feeds her to Bayne. Bayne with a overhead throw. Kris Statlander comes in and takes out Bayne.

Caster says Shibata couldn’t go five minutes with him because he respects him. He starts a chant and then says he couldn’t understand the accent. Zack Sabre, Jr. answered the challenge. Nigel is not happy. ZSJ tells Caster to come on.

ZSJ works his arm in various ways. Caster dropped his knees and ZSJ held him down with his knee. Caster worked ZSJ’s arm. ZSJ reversed the hold back onto Caster and sent him to the mat. He talked to Nigel from the ring. Caster put him in a side headlock and took ZSJ to the mat. ZSJ quickly wrapped his legs around Caster’s neck before twisting his neck. ZSJ works his wrist. Caster kicked him to make him let go. Caster hit ZSJ in the back of the neck. ZSJ went for a Cobra Twist, but Caster hops around to avoid it. ZSJ puts him in an abdominal stretch and Caster immediately tapped.

Winner: ZSJ

After the match, ZSJ talks trash to Nigel. Nigel stands up and offers his hand. They shake and exchange words. ZSJ tried to walk off, but Nigel wouldn’t let go. They stood face to face and ZSJ held his title up. As he walked off, Anthony Bowens ran in the ring and stomped Caster before punching him repeatedly. Billy Gunn came down to the ring and yelled at Bowens. They argue before Bowens tries to leave. Gunn stops him and tells him to back off him. Bowens did so and yelled at him from the ramp.
