AEW fans expecting Zayda Steel to pop up under Tony Khan’s umbrella may need to pump the brakes—for now. While she’s on the radar and no longer tied to WWE, it looks like she hasn’t officially inked a deal with All Elite Wrestling.
Fightful Select previously reported that AEW had reached out to Zayda Steel shortly after her WWE ID contract ended in early October. That deal, unique in nature, had matching rights that allowed WWE to counter outside offers. But now, with that contract expired and no restrictions holding her back, Zayda’s a true free agent.
During the November 23, 2025 edition of his Fightful Report, Sean Ross Sapp gave a clear status update on Zayda Steel and two other prospects, Haiyan and Maya World. According to Sapp, AEW has definitely taken notice of their work—but interest hasn’t yet turned into signed deals.
He made sure to dial back any overexcitement by clarifying that while all three women are on AEW’s radar, the situation hasn’t moved past the evaluation stage.
“Zeda Steel is not signed to AEW as of yet. Neither are Haiyan and Maya World either, all of which are very close to being signed. I think I shouldn’t even say very close. I should say they made very good impressions.”
Zayda has continued working internationally with companies after her WWE departure, steadily building her résumé. Sources previously stated that she turned down a WWE renewal, choosing instead to explore options outside the system.
With AEW’s women’s division constantly evolving, it’s only a matter of time before fresh talent is folded in—but for now, Zayda Steel, Haiyan, and Maya World are still unsigned and waiting for the right opportunity to lock things down.
Are you surprised AEW hasn’t pulled the trigger on signing Zayda Steel yet? Which of these three prospects do you think would make the biggest impact? Sound off in the comments—we want to hear your take.
