Bishop McCort Catholic coach Tom Smith confirmed that Zymir Reed, a senior, and Julius Reed, a junior, are playing at Middletown High.
Zymir Reed and Julius Reed each had transferred to Bishop McCort Catholic after starring at Greater Johnstown High School, where their father Antwuan Reed formerly was the football coach.
Antwuan Reed’s contract was not renewed in January, and Tony Penna Jr., the team’s offensive coordinator in 2024, was named head coach.
Earlier this month, Zymir Reed announced on social media that he received a NCAA Division I college offer from the University of Akron. In 2024, the wide receiver/defensive back was second in the area with 59 receptions for 908 yards and nine touchdowns.

A two-year starter as Greater Johnstown’s quarterback, Julius Reed led the area with 2,092 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns in 2024.
The District 6 Committee ruled the Reeds ineligible in football during a July hearing involving six athletes who transferred to Bishop McCort Catholic.
The PIAA upheld the rulings during an appeal Aug. 5.
Middletown High School opened the season with a 28-20 victory over Troy (Ohio) High School. Smith said Zymir Reed had seven catches in the game.
Bishop McCort Catholic defeated Bedford 39-7 Friday, and Chestnut Ridge beat Greater Johnstown 27-6.
