AJ Styles has been wrestling for a long time, and a recent post on X put that reality into numbers. He may also not be too happy about how things have turned out for him over the past year.
The viral post listed out every year of his career and how many matches he wrestled each year, starting in 1999 and running through 2025. Seeing it all laid out made it clear just how much mileage Styles has logged across more than two decades.
The list showed stretches where Styles was wrestling nonstop. From the mid-2000s through the late 2010s, there were multiple years where he worked well over 100 matches. His busiest runs came between 2016 and 2019, a period where he was heavily featured and rarely off the road. More recent years show a lighter schedule, which lines up with his veteran status and WWE managing his workload.
AJ Styles noticed the post himself and chose not to add any commentary. Instead, he reposted it and replied with a simple facepalm emoji. Fans immediately picked up on it, especially since it happened on Christmas Eve. The reaction felt like Styles quietly acknowledging just how wild those numbers are without needing to say a word.
Styles made his WWE debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, entering as a surprise and instantly becoming a major player. From there, he went on to hold championships and become one of the most reliable performers in the company. Interestingly enough, there is a push for AJ Styles appearing in a TNA Wrestling ring again next year.
AJ Styles has already announced that he plans to retire in 2026, which puts the clock officially ticking. With 2025 seeing both Goldberg and John Cena wrestle their final matches, both against GUNTHER. Fans are already wondering how WWE will handle Stylesβ send-off.
