A’ja Wilson Talks A’One Shoe Success and A’Two with Ballislife

PHOENIX—Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson is no stranger to winning and success, thanks to her contributions to women’s basketball.

From high school to the WNBA, Wilson is a winner, and her A’One sneakers are proof of that.

Since the release of A’One, the first drop—the Pink A’ura—were sold out in less than five minutes, cementing the success of Nike’s lineup of shoes for Wilson, a signature athlete, and other WNBA players for years to come. 

Nike confirmed on Tuesday that Wilson’s second signature show, A’Two is set to be released in the summer of 2026.  The price is expected to increase from $115 to $145 due to a major overhaul of the sneaker’s technology. 

Wilson caught up with Ballislife to discuss the success of the A’One shoes and her expectations for the new shoe.

A’ja Wilson Talks Signature Shoe Success with Ballislife

Ballislife: When the release of the A’Ones released earlier this year, how did you expect them to contribute to the league’s growth?

Wilson: “I mean, it was a reason why I’m a signature athlete. Want to continue to push that lid off of the glass ceiling.  I wanted to shadow that glass ceiling, and hopefully that my shoe could be a vehicle for us to do that and growing the game. So it kind of surprised me at the way and the flow that everyone wanted it, but at the same time it didn’t, because we have amazing fans.”

“I have an amazing fan base that loves to pour strength and courage into me, and I hope that they can do that and see that in the shoe. And I’m glad they love it as much as I do.”

Ballislife: You’ve seen WNBA legends such as Sheryl Swoopes get their own signature shoe. How much volume does it speak to when current players across the league are getting their own?

Wilson: “It is. It’s a lot of volume that goes into it. Obviously, it’s about time that we have an opportunity to showcase what we do and how we do it, and how well we do it.  We got to give a nod to our greats that continue to lay the foundation down for us to walk this path so we can continue to plant seeds for the next generation.”

A’Two Set to Debut Summer 2026

Ballislife: When you heard Nike confirmed the second model of the A’Ones, set to release in the summer of 2026, what were your expectations?

Wilson: “To be better than the one that’s pretty much the best way I can put it. I can’t tell too much, but just to be better than the one. Because we as a team at Nike, we put in a lot more into this shoe to make it a better shoe. So hopefully it can do better than the first collection.”

Ballislife: How do you expect the league to expand, attract more fans, and bring in new audiences through your signature shoe?

Wilson: “It’s just a preference thing. I don’t think it’s something that the league can necessarily do to push shoes onto people. I think it’s more so of just the type of person in the athlete that they are and the fan base that they have. It gravitates people to understand that our shoe is not just a basketball shoe.”

“I know my shoe is not just a basketball shoe that you can just play in or hoop in or it’s just for women. It’s a shoe for everybody. I hope that everyone can run their their own race at their own pace in my shoe. And love that, and love it as much as I do.”
