When guard Jessica Timmons went down as Alabama women’s basketball navigated the SEC Tournament two springs ago, she was in for a lesson in trusting the process.
The Crimson Tide redshirt senior suffered a knee injury when the 2023-24 Alabama team faced Tennessee, leaving her benched for the remainder of the season and setting her up to redshirt the following year.

Timmons shared what her experience getting back to action has been like during an interview on the Wednesday, Sept. 17 edition of “Hey Coach.”

“The first thing I learned is that faith plays a vital role in everything,” Timmons said, eager to return to the court this fall.
Before her injury, Timmons made an impact upon her transfer from NC State in 2023. She broke into the starting lineup, making 30 starts in 32 appearances while averaging 11.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Alabama basketball’s Jessica Timmons reflects on lessons learned during redshirt season
“I took it as a positive lesson to not only listen to my body, but listen to those around me,” Timmons said.
Despite not being able to contribute on the scoreboard after tip-off as Alabama made its most recent run to the Round of 32, Timmons recalled she was proud just to scrimmage and serve on the scout team, playing any role that she could.
This year, though, Timmons says she has “something to prove.”
Assistant coach Tenille Adams, who joined the Crimson Tide the same year as Timmons, is ready for fans to see the Charlotte, North Carolina, native back at her full potential and reaching new heights.

“She worked like she was a person that had a goal in mind. She was relentless about it,” Adams said, giving “kudos” to staff for getting Timmons to a place where she can now play without a brace.
