Alberto Del Rio is generally disliked in the US, but it’s a whole different story in Mexico as Del Rio got a ton of chants from fans during the WWE Live Event in Mexico City.
During the WWE Live Event at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Rey Mysterio came out and cut a promo on the crowd. During that time, fans instantly started chanting for Alberto Del Rio. Mysterio didn’t say a word as Del Rio’s name filled the entire arena.
This comes after Alberto Del Rio lost to El Mesias on the July 25, 2025 edition of AAA Alianzas, effectively exiling him from the company. While many fans wondered whether his AAA departure meant he was going to join WWE, that’s not the case at all, as we have reported Del Rio’s status with WWE “has not changed” and they have no plans to bring him back to WWE.
Alberto Del Rio has not been contacted and is not being considered for any future creative or talent-related plans, so it’s clear he’s never going back to WWE.
Fans chanting for Alberto Del Rio at WWE’s event in Mexico City shows that nostalgia is still strong, but WWE has no interest in bringing him back. Therefore, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for Del Rio since AAA and WWE are no longer options for him.
