Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner remain on collision course at the Cincinnati Open. Hours after Sinner defeated Adrian Mannarino, the Spaniard toppled Italy’s Luca Nardi 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last eight at the ATP Masters event.

It was a patchy display from Alcaraz, but he turned up his game after falling behind a break to Nardi in the second set, produced several highlight-reel winners, and closed out the final four games to notch his 51st win of the season.

Alcaraz stretched his winning streak at Masters events to 14, and remained undefeated against players younger than him on tour, at 11-0.

Alcaraz won an eight-deuce game at 4-4 to put the final nail in Nardi’s coffin.

“I think this match was the best so far for me in this tournament,” Alcaraz said in his on-court interview. “At the beginning of the tournament, I just really wanted to get better every day, after every practice and every match. I think I’m doing it, which I’m really proud about. I’m just really happy with the way I felt the ball today and the way that I moved.”

The 22-year-old is bidding for his sixth ATP title of the season, and his first in Cincinnati. He lost a thrilling final to Novak Djokovic at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in 2023, a three hour and 49-minute match that saw Djokovic save a championship point.
