Alex Pereira still weighs 234 pounds after arriving in Las Vegas to finish preparations for UFC 320.
“Poatan” was a massive middleweight when he took the 185 pound belt twice. He’s still big now that he fights at light heavyweight, and many wondered whether he was considering a move to heavyweight when he stepped on the scale months ago at 243 pounds.
Now, just two weeks from his title rematch against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 (Oct. 4, 2025), Pereira is a little lighter but still deep in heavyweight waters on the scale.
A new video released on the former middleweight and light heavyweight champion’s Instagram shows Alex weighing in at 104.2kg or 234 pounds. That’s seven pounds heavier than Pereira was when he hit Sin City for his first fight against Ankalaev at UFC 313.
We wouldn’t worry too much about Pereira making weight, considering he’s been extremely consistent and professional in his career and has never had a scale mishap in the UFC. But you have to wonder how these cuts affect his performance in the cage, especially against someone like Magomed Ankalaev who uses a lot of cardio-sucking clinches to drag his opponents into deep waters.
In a UFC 320 fight blog, Pereira said his body is feeling great and he’s hit a new level of physical conditioning with his team. For those always bagging on his busy travel schedule, “Poatan” says all of the videos you see of him gallivanting about were from seven weeks ago, and he returned home in time for six weeks of dedicated fight camp.
Now he’ll spend the next two weeks shedding 29 pounds to get to the championship limit for a light heavyweight belt. Chama!
