Alex Pereira debuts in UFC with knockout

by

In his UFC debut four years ago, Alex Pereira set the standard for his run to titles in two different divisions.

If you want to give a little perspective to just how fast of a rise Alex Pereira had to superstardom, think about this.

The last time Conor McGregor fought, Pereira had not yet made his UFC debut. McGregor still clings to stardom by virtue of bravado and legal entanglements. But Pereira is a star based on his performances.

All Pereira has done since the last time McGregor stepped foot in the cage is go 10-2 in the UFC with eight knockouts, six post-fight bonus awards, titles in two divisions – and a second reign as light heavyweight champion.

Pereira’s UFC debut came four years ago Thursday. After he wore Andreas Michailidis down in the first five minutes, the Brazilian landed a massive jumping knee and immediately had the UFC’s middleweight division on notice.

Check out that debut finish above, as well as some of his other finishes in the UFC, right up to the one in which he reclaimed the light heavyweight title in October.
