Alexander Bublik showed a high level of play this year as well, just like last year. By winning in Hong Kong against Lorenzo Musetti, Bublik lifted an important trophy and realized his dream of being in the top 10 of the ATP list. Some wonder if this is the limit for him or if Bublik can be even more dominant.
Ahead of the start of the Dubai Tennis Championships, the experienced tennis player spoke about his progress over the past few months.
When asked in an interview with Tennis TV whether he feels like a better player than ever before, Bublik answered in the affirmative.
“I think so.
I think it’s a synergy of everything. I mean, a lot of shots have been hit in the past 20 years, a lot of matches have been hit in the past 20 years.
I grew. I matured a bit as a tennis player. I matured a bit as a person. So I think it all came together with a bit of a fall back in the rankings, then resettling, then going back to the top 30, top 20 maybe."
Although his goals were previously far from the top 10, Bublik realized that with his qualities he really has the potential to be among the best and he managed to take advantage of that moment.
"I was not aiming for the top 10 at the time, but when it was in my reach, I had to use my chances, and I am lucky that I did that.”
Great performances at major tournaments
During this season, Bublik has shown that he can really compete with top players, and his performance at the Australian Open was an indicator of his great form.
Bublik also played at the Rotterdam Open, but in the semifinals against Felix Auger-Aliassime he failed to make an important step forward, although he can be satisfied with his performance.
Alexander Bublik has big things ahead of him in the rest of the season, aware that if he remains this dominant, he can certainly move up further in the ATP rankings.
