Americas 2026 Centurions: Players who can complete 100 test Caps

by

A very select group of rugby players are test match centurions. No North American player has reached the mark of 100 test caps while one has from Uruguay and four have from Argentina. Additional players from the same two countries can complete 100 test caps this year. No Canada, Chile or USA player can do so. Which Americas test players can become centurions in 2026? This article identifies the players.

URUGUAY

An Uruguayan loose head prop is closing-in on becoming his country’s second ever test match centurion. Mateo Sanguinetti debuted for Los Teros against Paraguay in 2014. The front-rower from Los Cuervos has 96 test caps. He missed the November tour of Europe due to injury.

Former Uruguayan captain, Andrés Vilaseca has 88 test caps. If he plays all of Uruguay’s test matches this year then he will end the year close to the milestone of 100 caps.

ARGENTINA

Argentine second-rower Guido Petti finished 2025 just two caps short of the mark of 100 test caps. The Harlequin debuted for Los Pumas as a teenager against Italy in Genoa in 2014. He was one part of the long-term permanent Pumas second-row trio together with Matías Alemanno and Tomás Lavanini.

Both Matías Alemanno and Tomás Lavanini could become centurions in 2026. Alemanno earned only one cap in 2024; he was a replacement in the win over Wales in Cardiff in November. Lavanini was not selected in 2025. Alemanno debuted in 2014 against Uruguay while Lavanini did so one year earlier against the same opposition. 2026 begins with Alemanno having 99 test caps and Lavanini has 91.

Matías Moroni started the November Internationals against Scotland in Edinburgh and England in London. The veteran center was  also busy in the July Internationals in 2025 but was not selected for the Rugby Championship. The Bristol Bears’ mid-fielder begins 2026 with 94 test caps to his name. He debuted in 2014 against Scotland in Córdoba.

Marcos Kremer could end the year with over 90 caps. The world record tackler begins 2026 with 81 test caps to his name. His busy schedule for Clermont saw him missing the June 2025 match against the British & Irish Lions, the July Internationals and also being rested against Scotland in November.
