Andy Roddick says he is "very confident" that Daniil Medvedev will continue his comeback journey in 2026 and return inside the top-10.
Medvedev, who started the year ranked at No. 5 in the world, exited the top-10 in March. It was his first time outside the top-10 in more than two years.
While Medvedev managed to quickly re-enter the top-10 club, he exited it once again after Wimbledon. At one point, the Russian was even the 18th-ranked player and came close to leaving the top-20 for the first time since 2018. However, that scenario was avoided after the former world No. 1 won Almaty and reached the Shanghai Masters semifinal – which helped improve five spots and finish the year ranked at No. 13.
This past season, Medvedev had a disastrous Grand Slam year as he exited the Australian Open in the second round before picking up first-round losses in the next three Majors. That means that the 29-year-old basically won't have any points to defend in Slams next year – which sets him up nicely to for major point gains.

“I think he’s in the top 10. When you said he won one match at a Major. I’m going man he still finished 13, and he won one match at a Major…One match at a Major, 13, that might be the highest ranking versus Slam output offset. And it’s not like the guy can’t play in Slams, he’s won one, he’s been in the finals of three or four more. I think Meddy’s back in the top 10 next year, I feel very confident after hearing your Slam statistic," Roddick said on his podcast.
A bit interestingly, when Medvedev reached the world No. 1 spot for the first time in 2022, he became the first player outside the Big Four to achieve the feat since Roddick in 2004.
