Angel Reese Announces Career News After WNBA Season

Angel Reese is preparing for her third season in the WNBA, having played under two different coaches with the Chicago Sky.

Reese began her WNBA career under head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and in her second season with the Sky, Chicago was led by head coach Tyler Marsh.

The Sky have struggled both seasons that Reese has been rostered, despite the talented forward having established herself as one of the top players in the WNBA.

In her second season, Reese was named a WNBA All-Star for the second time in her career.

On Friday, Ball is Life’s Sara Jane Gamelli reported that Reese has announced her intention to stay with the Sky for the next WNBA season.

“I’m planning on returning to the Sky in year 3,” Reese said (h/t Ball is Life’s Aya Abdeen).

“I’m under contract; so yes, I plan on returning to the Sky, continuing to talk to [Head Coach] Tyler [Marsh], and building that relationship with [General Manager] Jeff [Pagliocca],” said Reese when asked if she’s returning to Chicago for the 2026 WNBA season.

Angel Reese is currently at Team USA basketball camp, where she’s playing with several other WNBA stars such as Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink, for a potential spot in the team that will represent the country in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Wold Cup.

Last season with the Chicago Sky, Reese posted 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Angel Reese’s comments about her return come after a season in which she was suspended by her the Chicago Sky for comments detrimental to the team. Reese issued an apology after the comments, which seemed to be pointed toward frustrations with the coaching staff and game plan during a 10-34 season.
