Angel Rese has made a promise to her coaching staff following a sideline incident earlier this week.

The Chicago Sky took on the Washington Mystics in an afternoon game on July 8. Reese, who had 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists in the 81-79 loss, was not happy late in the game. During the final minute of Wednesday’s game, Reese angrily walked toward the bench.

Reese then proceeded to slap a clipboard out of an assistant coach’s hand, later identified as Sky VP of basketball operations Ann Crosby. Reese had no interest in what Crosby was trying to show her on the clipboard.

The former LSU Tigers star was clearly frustrated by a foul call on the previous play. Video of Reese slapping the clipboard out of the coach’s hand quickly went viral.

Reese was criticized by some on social media for the play. She was accused of being disrespectful to her coach. While it was something that happened in the heat of the moment, it’s also not something you want to see happen often.

The two-time WNBA All-Star forward has since promised to never let it happen again.

Reese blamed her outburst on some bad calls by the officiating crews.

“Those refs were pissing me off. Shoutout to Ann because she knew it was the heat of the moment and she didn’t let me apologize because she knew! Not happening again tho,” she promised.

Reese has been having a strong season, averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds per game, while making her second straight WNBA All-Star Game.

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled to play on Saturday, Jul 19.

It’ll air live on ABC at 8:30 p.m. E.T.
