A big part of Chicago Sky star Angel Reese’s appeal to the fans is her personal rivalry with Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever. These two have been going at it on the court even before they entered the WNBA in 2024, and their rivalry has only grown now that they’re competing at the professional level.
Reese and Clark, however, only got one opportunity to face each other once this past season. The Fever blew out the Sky in the season opener, 93-58, with Clark putting up a 20-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. Reese, on the other hand, double-doubled with 12 points and 17 boards.

One player who played her role in the Fever-Sky rivalry, at least in the early part of the season, is six-time WNBA All-Star DeWanna Bonner. The 6-foot-4 guard-forward joined the Fever as a free agent in the offseason, but ended up playing just nine games before her mid-season exit.
Bonner was unhappy with her role with the Fever and took a leave of absence from the team. This ultimately led to Indiana waiving Bonner in June. She eventually signed with the Phoenix Mercury, where she spent the first 11 years of her career.

On Tuesday, Bonner took to social media to send a heartfelt message about the challenges she faced in the past year. The two-time WNBA champion shared how “this year tested me, stretched me, and reminded me what it means to stand tall as a woman, an athlete, and a force in my own right.” Bonner also expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her in her journey.
Support poured in for Bonner after her emotional post. Reese was one of the WNBA stars to jump on the comments section to share her reaction to the veteran’s statement.

“You are the WOMAN we all inspire to be. From your craft to your motherhood to you just being a beautiful amazing human being. You always have a lil sis in me🤍” Reese wrote.
Bonner was a pivotal piece for the Mercury upon her return. She helped lead Phoenix all the way to the WNBA Finals, where they suffered a 4-0 sweep at the hands of A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces.
Bonner’s contract with the Mercury ended at the conclusion of the 2025 season. She will be an unrestricted free agent once the window officially opens on Feb. 1.
