Angel Reese has taken another step toward major WNBA stardom during her second season with the Chicago Sky.

Reese is arguably the best player on the Sky, taking over the franchise with other young talent Kamilla Cardoso and Hailey Van Lith.

During the offseason, Reese took part in the first season of Unrivaled. The 3-on-3 league is based in Miami and many WNBA players, including Reese, Brittney Griner and Kate Martin.

On Tuesday, Unrivaled revealed it has signed 90% of its roster for the 2026 season and confirmed the average salary of players will increase from last season’s $220,000, per Front Office Sports.

“The numbers are going up because the business outperformed every metric that we had,” said league co-founder Alex Bazzell, who did not get into specifics with Front Office Sports on the size of the increase.

The news was a reminder of the disparity in player salaries between the WNBA and Unrivaled. The WNBA is in talks with its players union over a new collective bargaining agreement, and salaries are a major sticking point.

According to Colin Salao at Front Office Sports, the average WNBA salary is less than $150,000 and the minimum is around $66,000.

Reese is playing on her rookie contract with the Chicago Sky, bringing in $74,909 during her second season in the WNBA.

It’s a significant downgrade from the Unrivaled league salary, which may sound the alarms in the WNBA community since players such as Reese have been vocal about increasing player salaries.

In her second season in the WNBA, Reese has averaged 14.2 points, a league-leading 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 23 games.
