Angelina Köhler Books Ticket To Short-Course Europeans At German Championships
Angelina Köhler was on fine form on the first two days of the German Championships as she clocked qualifying times for next month’s short-course Europeans.
Köhler won the 200 fly on the opening day in Wuppertal, clocking 2:07.54. She followed that up with a 25.42 victory in the 50 to book a second berth at the continental meet which takes place from 2-7 December in Lublin, Poland.
The Doha 200 fly world champion also won the 200 free although her time of 1:58.13 was outside the cut.
Noelle Benkler also booked her ticket to Lublin in the 400IM (4:35.87) while Lise Siedel’s winning time of 2:06.49 saw her qualify as an under-23 athlete.
Timo Sorgius did likewise in the 200 free in 1:43.34.
A maximum of 30 swimmers can qualify for Lublin with qualifying times divided into two categories, one for ‘open’ and one for ‘athletes under the age of 23.’
