Another WWE Hall of Famer Confirmed for John Cena’s Last Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event

by

Just hours before John Cena steps into the ring for the final time, Shawn Michaels has confirmed he’ll be in attendance for the emotional sendoff.

The WWE Hall of Famer took to Twitter and revealed he’s headed to Washington, D.C. for Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Cena will face GUNTHER in his official retirement match.

“So look, we’re off to see John Cena’s final match in Washington, D.C. Clearly, I’m appreciative of John being very supportive of NXT, but tonight is all about you, John, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

Michaels’ message is a major show of respect from one WWE legend to another, as Cena prepares to end a 23-year career that included 17 world championships, multiple WrestleMania main events, and crossovers into Hollywood and pop culture.

The match takes place at a sold-out Capital One Arena, with a packed card including Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi, Bayley vs. Sol Ruca, and a non-title tag team bout featuring AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs. Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater. But all eyes are on the main event: John Cena vs. GUNTHER, the final chapter of one of the most iconic WWE careers of all time.

With legends like Shawn Michaels, Trish Stratus and more showing up to witness it live, Cena’s final match is shaping up to be more than just another main event—it’s a full-circle moment in WWE history.
