Anthony Santander‘s postseason is over. An injury forced the Blue Jays to replace their prized offseason signing on the 26-man roster for the ALCS with outfielder Joey Loperfido. By rule, Santander will be ineligible to be added to the World Series roster should Toronto advance.
The news ends Santander’s first season with the Blue Jays on a disappointing note. He played only 54 regular-season games after missing most of the summer with left shoulder inflammation, hitting just .175 with six home runs. He went 3-for-15 in the playoffs with no extra-base hits, and he was scratched from the lineup in Game 2 of the ALCS due to back tightness.
Loperfido, 26, spent the bulk of 2025 in the Minors, but he produced when given the chance in the big leagues, posting an .879 OPS in 41 games with the Blue Jays. He’s seen time at all three outfield positions as well as first base in the Majors.
