AP Top 25: Miami moves up to No. 2 as Texas and Penn State fall out of rankings entirely

by

It’s been quite the carousel at No. 2 in the AP Top 25.

The Miami Hurricanes became the third different team to occupy the spot in the past three weeks after their 28-22 win over previously No. 18 Florida State on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes moved up a spot from No. 3 to No. 2 as Ohio State stayed at No. 1. Oregon was off in Week 6 and dropped a spot to No. 3. Ole Miss stayed at No. 4 while Texas A&M moved up to No. 5 after beating Mississippi State.

As Miami moved up a spot, the top two teams in the first AP Top 25 of the year are now unranked. After Texas lost to Florida and Penn State lost to UCLA, neither team is ranked in Sunday’s poll. The Longhorns started the season at No. 1 and the Nittany Lions were No. 2.
