This is the second game of a home-and-home series agreed to by the two programs last season. The first was in Spokane and Arizona State nearly pulled off an upset, ultimately falling 88-80 at The Kennel last November. Basheer Jihad scored a season-high 22 points with 10 rebounds in his lone double-double of the season.
This year’s game will be during homecoming weekend for ASU, one day prior to the football team’s game against West Virginia.

The Sun Devils are coming off a disappointing 13-20 season under coach Hurley, finishing just 4-16 in Big 12 conference play. The roster has undergone significant overhaul, with star freshmen Jayden Quaintance and Joson Sanon transferring out to Kentucky and St. John’s, respectively, while also losing Amier Ali to Mississippi State, Shawn Phillips to Missouri and, coincidentally, Adam Miller to Gonzaga.
The team did bring in some reinforcements via the portal, including former Pacific and Pepperdine guard Moe Odum – who dropped 24 points with eight assists against the Zags last year – and CSUN forward Marcus Adams Jr, who committed to Gonzaga briefly before his freshman season in 2023-24.
Hurley adds Gonzaga to a non-conference that already includes Oklahoma, hoping to give this ASU team enough of a challenge before a daunting Big 12 slate.
