Arizona State women’s basketball (1-0) will be without guard Last-Tear Poa for the game against Eastern Washington on Saturday, Nov. 8.
“She’ll be out for this game,” ASU coach Molly Miller said. “But after (Friday, Nov. 7), it’s going to be on a day-to-day basis. The recovery for her will depend a lot on these next 24 to 48 hours.”

Poa was absent from practice on Nov. 7 and was awaiting further evaluation of her injury. Poa started in the season opener and led the team with 10 assists in 29 minutes.

The fifth-year guard transferred out of LSU, where she won the national championship in 2023.
Freshman guard Amaya Williams is starting in Poa’s place. Williams played nine minutes in the opener, where she grabbed one offensive rebound and took two shots.

The Arizona State women’s basketball team leads Eastern Washington 15-9 after the first quarter.

After EWU got within one possession with 3:20 left, ASU went on a 6-0 run in less than one minute to double its lead. Makayla Moore hit the Sun Devils’ first 3 during the stretch.
Forward Heloisa Carrera scored four points, while guard Gabby Elliott grabbed three rebounds. ASU shot 5 of 12 (41.7%) and held EWU to shoot 4 of 18 (22.2%).
