Arkansas offensive backfield stars at Senior Bowl practice week

by

The 2025 season was certainly one to forget for Arkansas Razorbacks football. Head coach Sam Pittman was sacked after going 2-3 over the first five games. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, whose very presence within the program was highly questionable, given the notorious scandal that unceremoniously ended his first tenure in Fayetteville, was then given the interim job.

Things only got worse as the Razorbacks went 0-7 under Petrino version 2.0. Against this backdrop of extreme futility, Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green has something to prove to NFL scouts. This Senior Bowl week, he has certainly done so, and more. NFL scouts love his 6’6″ frame and the long wingspan that goes along with it.

Consider him the anti-Diego Pavia of this draft class. And after Fernando Mendoza, this quarterback class is wide open. Green can take advantage of a weaker QB class, and move himself up the boards.

According to NFL.com: “With a strong finish to the week, he has a chance to position himself as a likely late Day 2 pick.”

His backfield mate, Mike Washington Jr., came in with something to prove as well. The all-star games that lead up to the NFL Draft provide prospects with an opportunity to convey all that they bring to the table, on an individual level, in spite of how their team performed during the season.

And Washington has optimized this opportunity, by clocking in as the fastest running back at the Senior Bowl, with a time of 21.02 mph. As NFL.com put it, Washington has a “chiseled, athletic frame and is rarely caught by chasers once he hits the open field.”

Washington has seen his stock rise this week during Senior Bowl practice, and he’s now poised to be in the mix for the top 100 overall. He’s probably still a day three guy, but there is a possibility he could make his way into day two.
