Being a tennis star sometimes means that you are often criticized by the public, no matter how well you do.
Among the famous athletes who are often the target of criticism is Aryna Sabalenka, the Belarusian tennis player who is currently leading the way in the women's competition.
She is one of the most popular tennis players in the world and is quite active on social media.
However, no matter how dominant they are, there will always be those who challenge your success.
In an interview with the media, the Belarusian tennis player stressed that during her career she encountered various obstacles and hatred, but she realized that she should not focus too much attention on it.
“Well, I think all of us go through a lot of hate,”- Sabalenka said, as quoted by Tennis 365.
“Throughout my career, I faced a lot of hate and a lot of different hate for different reasons. So I figured that the more you give attention to that, the more it takes energy from you."
Sabalenka: Sometimes there’s like, mothers messaging such terrible things
The Internet and social media have changed many things around the world.
More and more athletes are pointing out how common this has become, and how internet hatred has become a normal thing, stressing that it is really bizarre.
Sabalenka, just like her colleagues, wants something to change in the future, with the aim of reducing hate on social media.
Whether they will manage to find adequate methods to stop it, it is hard to say, but it seems that freedom of opinion can sometimes lead to hatred, especially when you are a famous athlete.
“I feel like it’s better to ignore it, but sometimes, of course, I see those messages, and out of curiosity, I go to the page of the person who messaged me.
Sometimes I’m shocked. Sometimes there’s like, mothers messaging such terrible things. Sometimes it just you can see the person is doing nothing and commenting on people who is trying to do something in life, who is trying to motivate, inspire next generation."- she concluded.
